Mach5 Mailer Help Docs -- Undeliverable Messages
Dealing with Undeliverable Messages
What do you do when a message in your database is undeliverable? There are numerous types of message failures that can occur.
Some failures happen immediately when you send a message. These are errors that the sending SMTP server can detect right away. The SMTP server you use will bounce the message back to the From: address right away.
Some messages will fail after delivery to the destination domain. These messages will be returned to the From: address of the sender and may appear in your inbox in a variety of ways. If the destination domain is unreachable, your own SMTP server will bounce the message for you, usually after 3 days.
For returned messages, you can use PopMonger to filter through all your messages in your inbox. Remember that you will need to run PopMonger to check for failures right after you do a mailing, and then periodically, up to 3 days after the date of your mailing.
