The root domain name (and directory, if needed) of the files stored at your web site. For example, if your pages are stored at "http://www.domain.com/", enter "domain.com". If you cannot reach your site without the www present, you can enter "www.domain.com". Or, if your pages are stored at "http://www.isp.com/~user/" enter "isp.com/~user". FastStats Analyzer will use this information to determine which pages are hosted locally and which pages are not.
The default page as configured for your web site. For most web sites, this will be "index.html". FastStats Analyzer will use this information to translate directory requests to file requests and accurately log the number of requests for index files. For example, if a user requests "http://www.domain.com/log/", FastStats Analyzer will correctly log this as a request for "http://www.domain.com/log/index.html".
To tell one user session from another, we recommend that you place a temporary session cookie on visitor browsers at your landing page. Please read more about Analyzer session analysis. Without a session cookie, Analyzer will use just the IP address to distinguish between sessions of a visitor. Since many users may come from the same IP address, session based statistics will not be very accurate without a session cookie. Because of these inaccuracies, Analyzer will omit some session based reports if you are not using this capability.
Note that you do not need to place session cookies except on your landing pages, and the session cookie should be set to expire once the browser window closes. Because the cookies expire immediately when the browser window closes, almost all web users and browsers accept session cookies without user intervention.
We also provide some instructions for setting up session cookies that may be helpful to you.
